Golden Bone Awards

The highest honor a place of business can get from the world of dogs is a Golden Bone Award™. A Golden Bone Award recipient is a special breed of non-dog oriented establishment (usually a restaurant or lodging) that rolls out the welcome mat for dogs in a particularly wonderful way, taking dog-friendliness to new heights.

Most of these businesses offer dogs tasty treats in addition to lots of scratches and pats. Many of the lodgings shower dogs with extras like doggy beds, bowls, menus, and pet sitting. A few even offer special in-room massages for dogs. Some restaurants provide a special pooch menu, or a special free food item like a doggy burger, ice cream sample, or bagel.

A Golden Bone Award doesn't necessarily entail being the best or the fanciest (although with hotels it often can). After all, that's not what dogs care about; they just like to feel relaxed and happy and at home. Golden Bone establishments make them feel that way.

The Golden Bones™ also give people a key to places where they know beyond a shadow of a doubt that they won’t just be tolerated with their dogs – they'll be utterly welcome.

When you see an establishment with a Golden Bone certificate, you'll know you and your dog are in doggone good hands. We applaud these businesses. (Jake would shake paws with every proprietor if he could.)
